WELLINGTON PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS OPEN GOOD CARDS RETURNED

Wellington, Monday The Wellington women's provincial golf championship opened to-day in wet squally weather, but remarkably ^ good cards were returned. Mrs J. Wilson, the Auckland ehampion, headed the qualifying round .with 85 and 86. Miss Hanson, Mira>mar, was next with 173, and Miss W. Barnes-Graham, Gisborne with 175. 'Mrs. Monkton and Miss Chrystall with 186 failed to qualify. They head the list of 16 to play off for the Heretaunga trophy. Mrs. J. Wilson won the first medal handicap with 76. Miss M. Peacoek won the junior division and MisS Robinson won the second medal handicap. The team's match was won by Auckland with 395. Christchurch was second with 364. Miss Betty Rutherford (Canterbury) 84, won the trophy for the best card returned in the qualifying round.
