WHITTINGTON — STAPLE.T Arches of white Michaelmas daisy and giant stalks of pinlc cosmos and chrysanthemums made very pretty floral decorations at the B'ainbridge Memorial Church last Monday lafternoon on the occasion of the marriage of Joyce Marion, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Staple, of Park View, Rotorua, to Cyril Ernest Whittington, son of Mrs. and the late Mr. A. Whittington, of Hawera, Taranaki. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. H. Speer, late of Rotorua, and Mrs. J. T. Dixon played the wedding music. . The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful gown of rich ivory crinkled satin, fashioned on slim-fitting Iines. The eorsage was igently moulded to the figure and the skirt, inset jvith lace godets, fell in graceful lines to the ground. The •sleeves had a similar lace godet-ef-fect finished at the wrist with tightfitting lace cuffs. Her veil of embroidered tulle was surmounted by. a dainty juliet cap caught at each ear with clusters of orange blossom, and for her bouquet she carried shell pink and white carnations . and roses. In attendance were Miss Margaret Gordon, of Dargaville, and the bride's smaller isister, Miss Vera Staple, acted as flower girl. The former's frock was of cameo pink satin beaute cut on Grecian lines and finished at the baclc with *. snug capelette. A crinoline picture hat and lace mittens were wom .in the sarne tonings as the frock itself. A dainty gown of apple green organdie complete with a juliet eap and lace mittens in the same tonings was worn by the flower girl, who also carried a basket of lemon and pale pink autumn flowers. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. R. Orme, of Rotorua. At the conclusion of the ceremony, a reception was held at Piarlc Yiew, wjiere the bride's mother received the iguests in a becoming gown of mulberry wool crepe de chine relieved with beige georgette. She wore a hat in shade and carried a bouquet of autumn chrysanthemums. For her travelling costume the bride chose a smart nigger brown en■semble and the happy couple propose to spend their honeymoon on a motor tour of the north. FOGGIN— HODGSON. | St. Luke's Anglican Church was the ■scene of a very pretty wedding_ last Tuesday evenng, when Joan Violet, younger daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. G. M. Hodgson, of Arawa St., Rotorua, was married to William, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Foggin, of Pererika Street, Rotorua. The service, which was fully choral, was conducted by Archdeacon F. W. Chatterton, and Miss M. Mactier officiated at the organ. The church, which had been decorated for the occasion by friends of the bride, looked most artistic in a fioral scheme of pale pink and white and the large nuptial bell suspended at the entrance to the nave gave its own token of reverence and beauty to the surroundings. Escorted by her uncle, Mr., R. Alston, of Auckland, the bride entered the church in a regal gown of h'eavy cream suede marocain cut on islender lines and falling in graceful folds to the ground. The bodice had a crossed effect in front, continuing into a large flat bow, at the back the ends forming a train over which fell a beautiful veil of old Brussels lace caught t* the head with a circlet of tiny sprays of orange blossom. For her bridal bouquet she carried a sheaf of feiathery white chrysanthemums. Three maids attended the bride, Miss Gwynneth Toll, of Auckland, Miss Rose Campny and Miss Nora Foggin (sister of the bridegroom) . All were dressed alike in early Victoi'ian frocks of briar rose georgette. Frilled fi&sues finishing in bows at the back formed the main feature of the bodices, while the skirts were composed of rows of tiny frills falling gracefully to the floor. Hats of cicelle straw in the same shade of pinlc were worn and each of the maids carried dainty floral muffs of pink satin. A wee train-bearer completed the bridal party, Miss Winifred Lenih'an, who wore a miniature frock of white rosebud georgette cut on the same old-world fashion as the bridesmaid's gowns. A tiny white satin muff and lacey mittins completed a charming picture. Mr. Douglas Speedy, of Te Awamutu, attended the groom a3l best man and Messrs. A. W. Downer, H. Pealce and J. Thomson ia.cted as ushers. A reception was held after the ceremony at the Tea Kiosk,; Government Gardens, Mrs. Hodgson receiving her guests in a smart frock of raven'swing chiffon velvet and black hat. She carried a small posy of violets and maidenhair fern. Mrs. A. H. Foggin, mother of the bridegroom, wore heavy crepe de chine in cinnamon brown, with' a floral crepe and brown hat to tone. A pretty wedding was solemnised on Saturday morning at St. John's Church, when Bernice Geraldine, secand daughter of Mrf and Mrs. H. J. Burney, of Ngongotaha, and Reginald Leslie, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Timbs, of Wanganui, were married. The church had been beautifully decorated for the occason. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a charming frock of wine wool crepe de chine and toque hat to, tone. Mrs. R. Munro, sister of the bride, attended as matron of honour and wore a navy frock and fawn hat. Mr. R. Munro was best man. After the ceremony 1a wedding breakfast was held at the Tea Kiosk, where the bride's mother received her guests wearing navy wool crepe de chine and hat to tone. Among the guests were: Mr. and Mrs.* Gee, Mr. and Mrs. P. Cronin, Mr. and Mrs. C. Lowe, Mr. G. Martin, Miss J. Martin. In the evening an enjoyable party was given by Mr. iand Mrs. G. J. Burney, when games and dancing wiled away a happy evening. A Monte Carlo was won by Miss1 C. Cronin and Mr. P. Cronin. Among those present were: Mrs. P. Cronin, Mrs. W. Cormay, Mrs. C. A wedding of much interest took place on Tuesday, when Hazel Winifred, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Matthews, of Ngongotaha, was married to Alexander Claude Walker, of Te Kuiti. The church had been decorated with primrose dahlias. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a charming frock of ivory georgette and lace. Her veil of honiton lace was gathered at th'e head with clusters. of orange blossoms. The bridesmaids, Misses Joyce and Jean Matthews, sisters of the bride, wore frocks of sea green marqueen silk with picture hats to tone. Their bouquets of dahlia.g and chrysanthemums matched their frocks. The bridegroom was attended by Messrs. M. and K. Matthews. The bride's mother wore a model frock of plum s'atin beaute with felt hat to tone and the bridegroom's mother wore a beautiful tfrock of wine silk marocain with straw hat to • tone.
