FOUND SHOT WITH GUN LYING BESIDE HIM A NOTABLE FIGURE

(Kec. April 27.) London, April 26. Mr. Justice McCardie was found dead dn his London house with a bullet wound in his head and a revolver nearby. A servant heard a shot and rushed to the room where he found the judge lying on the floor. Mr. Justice McCardie was convalescing from two severe attaeks of influenza and was still suffering the after effects.
Mr. Justice McCardie, known as the "Bachelor" judge, was 63 years of age. He was called to the bav in 1894 and made rapid progress in his profession, becominig at last the most popular of junior counsel in England. He was raised direct from the junior bar to the bench and was created a judge of the High Court in 1916. He 'had a reputation for expressing his personal views, which were not always orthodox, from the Bench.
