DIRECTION INDICATORS

-The need is becoming apparent for some reguiation, with a view to standardisaition, of the diirection indicators which are lappearing an increasing numb'ers on new cars. There are many different types of indicators' in use, and these operate in iso many different ways, that siignals are often confusing, and do more 'harm than i good. There is good reason to doubt wh'ether more than two signals are really needed the stop signal and the signal, g'enerally given by the I hand, th'at one intends to make ia right-hand turn. Moist cars are al-

ready fitted with stoplights, which also serve as "slow" warnings, and the ordinary hand signal is quite effec- • tive, althoulgh it is sometimes difficult to make in modern closed cars. In such cases a mechanical or electric right-hand tum signal would be an advantage, but many experieneed drLvers feel that, to avoid a confusing multiplicity of signals, no further I signals are really necessary.
