LATEST MOVE ACCENTUATES EXTENT OF WORLD DISTRESS MR. MacD ONALD'S VIEW
-By Telegraph — Copyright).
Rec. April 23. New York, April 21. Arriving to help to map out a campaign for a world war against what he called "unmerited poverty," Mr. Ramsay MacDonald said to-day: "The abandonment of the gold standard by the United States affeets England not at all, so far as I am concerned." Asked in a brief interview if he were disappointed in President Roosevelt's action, he replied, "Oh, gracious, no!" adding that he really was without information concerning the development, aside from the bare fact that this country had for the timebeing abandoned the gold standard. "It only brings out "in higher light," said the British Prime Minister, "the distress of the world, and that is what your President and I are trying to face, and I hope to face it successfully."
