Palmerston N., Friday. Coneern is felt. for the safety of four trampers who set out to cross the Tararua' IRanges' last Saturday and have not since been heard of. ' The members ai-'e Miss M. Williams (Wanganui), Dr. W.' B. Sutch (Ralmertson North)', Messrs E. Hill (Palmerston North) and B. O'Keefe (Wellington). Thdy left with the intention of penetrating into- the ranges by the Ohau : River towards Mount Holdsworth, and, expected to come out on the Masterton side on Sunday or Monday. They have now been six days out. The weather has been very unfavourable.t It is recalled that Mr. O'Keefe had a trying ordeal a few .weeks ago, when kh became separated from his companio^s, who' compriSed practiij cally the same party as the present j one, during a rnist which came Up I suddenly on Mount Bannister. He [ eventually reached the Masterton | side aifter several days and nights in the open.
