As soon as Mr. Ramsay-MacDonald learned that the United States had gone off "the ' gold standard' he consulted Sir Frederick Leigh-Ro&s, the chief economic expert of the British Government. ' Mr. 'MacDonald refused to comment on the ' niatter.
