Getting Ready For Shooting Season Already numbers of Rotorua shooting enthusiasts are preparing for the shooting season which opens on May' 1. Loos are being built and in many cases are already erected in selected spots, while gear is being overhauled. Duck are reported to be fairly plentiful. New Electric Pump The Rotorua Borough Council Engineering Department has just completed the manufacture of an electric pump for the clearing out of septic tanks. There has been some difficulty with this pha.se of the sewerage and the borough engineer, Mr.' F. C. Bunyard has adopted a special pump for the purpose. The pump is portable and can be erected wh'erever it is needed. Platform Being Dismantled The summer season over, a start was made yesterda.y with the work of dismantling the temporary concert platform erected by the borough council^ in the Town Square for the purpose of staging Maori concerts during the Christmas and Easter holidays. Bowling Semi-Final A close game was played yesterday morning at the ' Government grounds when French and Budd met Nesbitt and Banks in the semi-final of the Rotorua Bowling Cluh's championship pairs competition. In the latter stages of the match the play of both teams was very even and it was only by a lead of six points secured by French and Budd in the first three heads that they were enabled to win the game 23-20. The final will be decided this afternoon when th'e winners of yesterday's game will meet Kelly and Knaggs. The handicap pairs will also he continued this afternoon. Winter Show Office In preparation for the approaching Winter Show, the secretary of th'e Rotqrua Agricultujral and Plastoral Association, Mr. W. H. Wilkinson, will open an ofiiee in the new show building, Fenton Street, on Friday next, April 28. At this office schedules for the various classes of exhibit and entries will be received. The new building is now rapidly approaching completion and apart from the laying of the flooring .which is now being undertaken, little else remains to be done. Four Heavy Fish Foufvery fine trout were secured by Mr. J. C. Bates of Rotorua, when fishing at Lalce Okataina on Thursday evening. The fish were all in excellent condition two of them scalirig ten pounds each" and the other two being nine pounders. Mr. Bates was using a turkey and yellow fly. Baskethall Game A Possible- v. Probables match is to be played hy members of the Old Pupils Baskethall Club on April 29. instead of to-day, as originally arranged. Teams are as follow: — ^Possibles: V. Robertson, J. Allan, N.
