BIRD'S LONG FLIGHT

HALF WAY ROUND WORLD A pigeon that had travelled unwittingly half round the world was recently restored to its owner, Mr. Joe Riley, of Brads'haw, Halifax, a member of the West Yorkshire combine. Sent as a yearling to compete in the Nantes race, the bird was liberated with about 1000 others, and did not return. Mr. Frank Wilcock, secretary of the Combine, eventually received a message from the chief stewards of the ship Highland Princess, that as the vessel was on the way to Rio fie Janeiro, the pigeon was caught on deck. An identity stamp on the wing gave the address of Mr. Wilcock.
