Ellerslie, SaturdayAfter 'selecting the first two winners the public had a thrashing for the rest of the day not a favourite scorlng. Silver Scorn duly won the Oaks by ten lengths and Golden Wings put up a race record to win the Easter from Manawhenua with Lordly Knight third. Billy Boy paid a -great price to win the Brighton Hurdles and Simeon from Te Puke won the Mangere Steeples. The tote handled £38,887, compared with £34,045 last year, an increase of £4842. Manawhenua made a run at the top and turning for home was in fiftfy berth the others being unaltered. Golden Wings ran home a winner from Manawhenua with Lordlj Knight who also stayed on third followed by Lady Quex and Inflatior who could not be separated for fourth L'Allegro, Chief Cook, Aiguille, Sef Ruler, Paganelli, Sunny Sky and Golc Trail. Ruri confirmed his previous good form, being a good fourth, with Desert Star, Blanford, Currajong and Holly Lu next. Racefield and Currajong were right up with the winner to the home turn where, however, they commenced to weaken.
