Auckland, Sunday. An exp^ting man hunt, following the. shopting" of Mr. Jamqs Pennington Baites, . garage proprietpr at I\4ej:cer i'at 10.30 on Thursday evening, resplted in the arrest last night pf a youth by Sevgeant M07 riarty and Const^hle McLean, of Frankton police station. • The youth was " immediately searched, and was found found tq be unarmed. He at first gave a false name, and was taken to the Hamilton police station where is said to have admitted his identity. He was taken in custody to Auckland. Over 30 police from Auckland and Hamilton were engaged for 24 hours [ in the chase. Every ro.ad and bridge between Mercer and Hamilton was patrolled and traffic was held up for | examination. A number of young men | were stopped and questioned, but I were released on proving their ! identity. !
