SHEEP DOGS ANNUAL CLUB TRIALS COMMENCED ON MONDAY. ' JUDGES' PLACINGS. \ '

The Bay of Plenty Sheep og Trial Club comraenced its annual trials on Monday^ The weather conditions were perfect and quite a large number of spectators were present for the early events, auguring well for a. ' large crowd for the second and third days, when the heading competitions take place. There are quite a number of cups and trophies to be won, including two new pups, the Walker and Hall C'up for the champion huntaway, and the Coast Cup for the champion dog. There is also the J. M Butler Memorial Rose Bowl. The Ziz-Zag Huntaway results were as follows: — /Standard points): 1st, C. Y. .Brown's "Vic," 16, 9, 5, 10; total 40. Vic ran fairly well to the first flags a.nd through, following up a good line to the second flags. He went slowly to the top flags owing to a lame sheep and got slightly off the line before going through the flags. His style, command and noise were good. For second place, W. J. Butler's "Ginger," 16, 9, 4, 9; total 38, tied with M. Williams "Royal, 15, 9, 4, 10; total 38. Ginger's hunting was good but he was not in possession at the second flags. His noise and command were good but his style was a bit sla.ck. , C. Gordon's "Roy" came fourth with 15, 9, 4, 9; total 37. ">Rioy put up a fair line to the first flags and got through to continue to the second flags in fair line, finishing with a" good line to the top flags and through. He was a bit slack but the command was fair. G. Mead's "Rowdy" with 14, 9, 4, 9; total 36, came fifth. Rowdy left the sheep1 after getting through the first set of flags. Although he let the sheep a little out of line at the start he brought them back and ran a good line for the rest of the way. He was a little slack but oth'erwise good.
