The Government msteoroloplst 18sued the following weather report and forecast lest nifht: — % General situation: A slight anticyclone is moving off New. Zealand, while a rather deep westerly depression has passed Tasmania, and the tropical cyclone is moving south-east from New Caledonia. Forecast: Winds moderate to strong south-easterly to north-easterly prevailing from Cook Strait northward, Teaching gale force in the far south, elsewhere north-easterly to northwesterly. Weather: Fair to fine in most districts, but showers developi'.ig in the far north and north-east and about Foveaux Strait. Following are the barometerr maximum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 30.051ins. Thermometer (max.) 68.0deg. Thermometer (min.) 47.0deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 38,3deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshine 5.8hrs.
