Reduced Licenses
Various lorry drivers and taxi driv- i ers, at Friday's meeting of the Opo- i tiki Borough Council, petitioned the | council to reduce the license fees to j £1, but as some of the petitioners had j not yet .paid their license fees, the i ■council did not feel disposed to con- : sider the petition until they had been paid. i Golf Meeting A special general meeting of the i Opotiki Golf Club was held on Wed- | nesday evening to discuss the ques- J tion of allowing eountry members full ! playing rights for ihe first season only. Mr. F. J. Short, captain of the I club, explained the matter, and after j a lengthy discussion, the proposal was carried. The erection of the clubhouse in its new site facing the north was also diseussed and after several members had expre'ssed their views, it was decided to have it parallel with Mr. Merry's fence. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Bunkall, ! chairman of the greens committee for his untiring efforts during the past summer months in supervising the laying down of the new greens.
