£200,000 IN WINNINGS
RACEHORSE TRAINER'S AFFAIRS Figures regarding the turf winnings of Mr. J. B. Joel were related recently when Charlesi Morton, the former racehorse trainer, underwent a P'ublic examination at the Brighton Bankruptcy Court, England. Morton, who was 79, and lived in Brunswick Terrace, Hove, trained Sunstar and Humorist, who won the Derhy in 1911 and 1921. ' "I won more than £200,000 for Mr. Joel," Morton said. "I was paid 10 per cent. on all winnings, so that my share would he about £20,000." Morton said his accounts. sliowed a deficiency of £3856. He attributed his failure to the heavy interest he paid to a moneylender, to his household and persona.1 expenses exceeding his income, and to a reduction from £1500 a year, which he had received since 1924 to £600 in 1931, in the voluntary allowance made to laim hy Mr| Joel. "He admitted he lived in extravagant circles. His hetting' losses, however, lamounted only to about £75 in three years.
