THE WEATHER
The Government meteorolonlst issued the following weather report and forecast Isst nijht:-— General situation: An extensive antNcyclone still covers the Tasman Sea and New Zealand, while a cyclone appears to be developing off the j Queensland Coast. ' Forecast: Winds moderate to strong soi|therly to south-easterly about and north of Cook Strait and south-wes-.terly thence southward. Weather: Mainly fair to fine and cool, but some showers still probable along the east coast and in the far north. Following are the barometer, maxlmum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer — 30.117ins. Thermometer (max.) 68.0deg. Thermometer (min.) 42.0deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 38.3deg. Rainfall .... Hil B'right Sunshine 10.0hrs.
