te teko MEETING SILVER DIVISION SUCCESSFUL IN INTERESTING CUP RACE POOR HUNTERS' FIELD S
Te Teko, "Wednesday. The Te Teko races were held today and the public had a most enjoyable day. Silver Division, who carried off three races last year, won th© Cup from Peter Paul (last year's winner), whilst that good horse Intaglio scored a wiri in the last race for the popular secretary, Mr. Moody. Owing to a breakdown-in transport there was only one horse able to go to the post in the trot and Mr. Smalley's pacing stallion Dillon' Audubon had a walk-over. This is only the second case of a walk-over in a trotting race in New Zealand, the other being New Brighton, when Happy Voyage walkedover in an exhibition trot against cime. The gate was over double last year no less than £59 18s being taken, against £28 4s last year. Two Horse Race The withdrawals from the Hunters' Flat were Tapapa, who was ineligible owing to his win at Te Puke, Cloudbank and Lady Albyn who had broken down. Rainbow went to the front from a flag start, but Omataroa was under a pull and his rider waited on Rainbow until half a mile had been eovered. He took the lead then and had a two lengths break on the other contestant. When they came into view after passing the hill Omataroa had a commanding lead and won by six lengths easing up. Rainbow who had been eased in his work owing to shin-soreness put up a creditable display in the circumstances. Results : — HUNTER' S FLAT HANDICAP, 1 mile. •OMATAROA, Mr. W. Waikato's (Mr. G.
