MAN TAKES TO HEELS WHEN STRUCK BY WOMAN PURSUED AND CAUGHT i

Hawera, Wednesday. Shortly after eight o'clock on Tuesday a woman's cry for help was heara in Nelson Street. A young man ran to give assistance, and after running down the street caught a man, whom he took to the police station. To-day, John Munro, labourer, aged 60 years, appeared before justiees and pleaded guilty to being on Nelson Street premises without lawf ul excuse. Accused said that the case was one which should be discussed quietly and without publicity. The police said that Munro had Visited the house oecupied by an elderly woman and her daughter on a number of Sunday evenings. Yesterday evening, the women returned to the house and found him waiting on on the verandah. Answering her daughter, he said, "I have not come to hurt you, love." . An altercation ensued, the daughter sending her mother for the police, while accused, having been hit over the eyes by the daughter with her handhag, jumped the gate and ran away. Accused was remanded for a week for medical observation.
