Thp Qovennment meteorolonist i«sued the following weather report and forecast !»st nig-ht: — General situation: A rather intense anti-cyclone covers New Zealand, and J a cyclone of tropical origin is centred ' north of the Kermadecs. Forecast: Winds northerly to northwesterly prevailing south of New Plymouth and Napier, strong about Foveaux Strait, eisewhere moderate but increasing, light to moderate south -westerly to north-easterly north of New Plymouth and Napier. Weather: For the most part fine with cool nights and warm day temperatures. Some showers, however, in the far north and north-east and about Foveaux Strait. Following are the baromet*>rr maxlmum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 30.096ins. Thermometer (max.) 71.2deg. Thermometer (min.) 45.8deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 38.6deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshine 7.8hrs.
