Auckland, Wednesday. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report: At Westfield beef was penned in average numbers, and there was an improved demand, with values very firm at late quotations. Extra choice ox sold to 19s per 100 lb, choice and prime, 16s to 18s; secondary and plain 13s to 15s, prime young cow and heifer beef 15s to 17s, secondary 12s to 14s. Heavy prime steers ranged from £7 to £7 17s 6d; lighter, £6 to £6 17s 6d; light £4 10s to £5 17s 6d; unfinished and small £2 10s to £4 5s; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers £5 to £6 2s 6d; heavy £4 to £4 17s 6d; lighter £3 to £3 17s 6d; light £2 15s to £2 17s 6d; other cows, 25s to 42s 6d.
