women's institute LARGE ATTENDANCE AT WAIOTAHI BRANCH MEETING (From Our District Representative) There was a large attendance at the meeting of the Waiotahi Wo- 1 men's Institute held in the hall on I Wednesday, March 8. A lengthy discussion on the coming annual meeting of the Institute Bay of Plenty Federation took place, the remits being submitted to vote by the • members. Mrs. C. White was nomin- j ated to represent Waiotahi in addition to Mrs. A. Debreceny, the sitting member. It was decided to have a separate stall at the Sunshine League's Flower Show and Mrs. L. Looney, Mrs. King, Miss Abbot and Miss Martin were appointed to take charge of the exhibits and arrange the stall. The fiower show is to be held in the Waiotahi Hall on March 22. Programmes were distributed and the meeting and members urged to make the show as successful as possible. A committee of young people is arranging a dance to be held on the evening of the fiower show in aid of the tennis club. A most interesting and delightful 'talk on his work in the Sudan was given by the Rev. D. McDiarmid to whom a hearty vote of thanks was accorded. Mrs. Toone gave a helpful demonstration on footing a sock for which she was warmly thanked. The roll call of "Economical Hints" brought forth some novel ways of saving labour and money. A busy time was spent at the stall where there was a large array of vegetables and fruit. The bostesses were : — Mesdames Scott, Andei'son and Miss M. Eason.
