Wellington, Friday. In the Supreme Court Frederiek Howard Davis, for causing a person to receive a letter with intent to extort money, was ordered three years' probation. He is to pay the costs of the prosecution, 25s and was debarred from attending picture shoWs for a 7/ear. His Honour, Mr.-Justice Reed, mentioned that prisoner was a youth and the probation officers gave him a good ■ character. The b.ombastie language in the letter satisfied His Honour that prisoner should he .treqted as having the mental capacity of a child who had been allowed to attend too many gangstep piptures.
