FRENCH HINT

POSSIBILITY OF GERMANY COLONX5ING IN AFRICA London, March 7. Geneva reports state that a sensation developed in the General Commission of the Disarxnament Conference, during the discussion on overseas troops, when Herr Nadolny (Germany) remarked that he hoped Germany would be considered as interested. M. Sarraut, the French Colonial Minister, said he was convinced that cex'tain eountries which to-day did not possess colonies would, in the near future, be able to join the wo'rk of the colonising nations in the exploitation of continents like Africa, which was large enough to alford woi'k for all the European nations. This statement greatly surprised M. Sarraut's colleagues, and an "oflicial" explanation quickly followed, declaring that M. Sarraut referred to the German collaboration in public works, for exanxple, the construction of aerodromes at Algiers and Tunis. The explanation did not prove convincing.
