REPLACING DESTROYERS WITH MORE MODERN TYPE
FIVE SHIPS AFFECTED Canberra, Marcjlx 8. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. A. Lyons, announced that the Commonwea.lth Government has opened negotiations with the British Government for thie replacement of the destroyers of the Australian squadron by four destroyers of more modern type, and also for replacement of the flotilla- | leader Anzac. The Minister of Defence stated the present intention was to replace the Anzac with II.M.S. M-ackay. The five vessels to be replaeed are the Anzac, Swordsman, Success, Tattoo, and Tasmania.
