The Government meteorolojllst iss'ued the foliowing weather report and forecast test niffht:— General situation: The depression over New Zealand has deepened co'nsiderabiy, while the anti-cyclone over | the Tasman Sea has been losing its 1 intensity. Forecast: Winds strong westerly t6 south-westerly, later backing to south-easterly. I Weather: Cool, changeable and somewhat squally with showers in ! most districts, conditions improvi'ng gradually except on the East Coast of | the North Island. Foliowing are the barometerr maxlmum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 29.713ins. Thermometer (max.) 70.4deg. Thermometer (min.) 51.0deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 44.6deg. Rainfall Nil Bright Sunshine 7.2hrs.
