Fisherman's Good Haul The reward of early rising was impressed upon a party of anglers from Rotorua who visited Lake Okataina during the week-end. Tired out after a day's unsuccessful casting they camped on the beaeh. The night was cold and the bed knobbly, so much so, that one of them determined to try his luck rather than collect any more aehes. He got up and fished and was rewarded by an eleven-pounder. The rest of the party caught nothing. Fire Brigadesnaen Practising Teams from the Rotorua Fire Brigade are husy putting in a good deal of their spare time in practice for the events at the forthcoming eompetitions and are showing much enthusiains in their work. Cattle From East Coast A line of about 1000 cattle from the East Coast is on the road and will be used for stocking the Horohoro Block. The bulk consist of heifers and cows. Rugby Referees' Conference An invitation is to be extended by the Greymouth Referees Association to the parent hody to hold the next annual meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Referees' Association in the West Coast town. The ccnference holds its meeting alternately in the North and South Island and next year is due to visit the South Island.

Petrol Prices Fall A reduction of one penny per gallon in the price of petrol eame into force in Rotorua on Saturday and, according to service station proprietors, was reflected in better saies on Saturday and yesterday.

In view of the present difficult times and the distressed condition of very many of the Maori people, this is regarded as extremely satisfaetory.
