COMMON SENSE.
(To the Editor.) Siry — I sec by this morning's issue of Ihe "Poas," that at the Municipal Conference, the idea of a state lottery turned dowh, and I would like to ask them, why? If it was for the reason statcd, then I say bosh! The prohibition of a state lottery will not prevcnt huge sums of money, leaving the country anr.ually, for other sweepstakes and lotteries, but the holding of a State lottery would mean all this money staying in the country, besides attraeting thousands of pounds from other countries. I should also like to ask whether those who voted against the'molion have ever gambled theraselves. I think the answer would be in the aflirmative, and I am certain that Government prohibition will nevcr stop gambling if the people want to gamble. I am etc., Ii
