March 1, 10.30 p.m. Canberra, Wednesday Seventy delegates representative of every State and of New Zealand are attending the fourth Australian Cancer Conference which was opened today by the Federal Minister of Health (Hon. C. W. C. Marr), who ofRcially welcomed the visitors including the New Zealanders, Professor D'Ath and Dr. Lynch, whose work, he said, was already well known to the medical profession of Australia. The Minister added that the Cornmonwealth was faced with a definite rise in the anortality rate due to cancer. The Government acknowledged with appreciation the manner in which all concerned were co-operating to fight the scourge.
