The Government meteorolorilst issued the following weather report and forecast 5est, niffht: — General situation: A rather hollow cyclone is still centred to the north of the Bay of Plenty. Pressure is still high to the east of New Zealand. A fairly deep depressio'n is located over the South-west Tasman Sea. Forecast: Winds variable, south to south-east still prevailing north of Westport and Kaikoura. Elsewhere, northerly. Weather: Further rain in easiern districts from Cook Strait to E^ast Cape some heavy falls north of Hawkes Bay. Scattered showers with occasional thunder in other parts of I the North Island but improving gradually. Elsewhere, fine. Temperatures mild. Following are the barometerr rriaxlmum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday.
