MAJESTIC THEATRE

TO-NIGHT. When Nora Swinburne was called upon to portray the role of Lady Di- j ana in British International's Iatest producion, "Potiphar's Wife," it was generally considered in film circles that she was igiven one of the most difficult parts yet assigned to a British actress. "Potiphar's Wife" tells the story of J a particularly dangerous type of so- 1 ciety vamp, who, bored because of her j husband's lack of attention, dircets j all ber subtle wiles on her own chauffeur. His refusal to be a partner in ■ the intrigue leads her, in her rage, to accuse him of assaulting her. The ; hig climax of the drama occurs in the trial sequence, w'hen, upon seeing th'e folly of her scheming, she endeavours to display some measure of repentance. Whilst it cannoti he said that she is in any sense a heroine, she must endeavour to win some measure of sympathy from the audience, and it was this that required all Miss Nora Swinburne's dramatic gifts to enact the role without making it f ar f etched. Laurence Olivier is seen as Straker, the chauffeur, in the Elstree production now at the Majestic Theatre. ' TO-DAY AT 3 P.M. The second feature and the picture for t'he matinee this afternoon at three o'clock is "Mighty London," depicting London's grandeur and gaiety, palaces and poverty, work and play.
