Surprise will no doubt he occasioned in many quarters by the Iatest selection of players to represent the Rotorua Cricket Association in the match with Tauranga during the week-end. Without knowledge of the policy decided upon by the association or the selector in this match, adverse comment on the selection may perhaps be unjustified, but to the writer the team generally appears to have many wealcnesses. In dropping many who have represented the district for a number of (years, tlfe selector appears to have unaccountably overlooked many of the most promising colts -in the competitions. Two regrettable omissions appear to the writer to be Dawson Ngongotaha), and Marshall (Albion), both of whom are probably among the most promising batsmen in the competition. As a change howler it is difficult to understand Sutherland's omission, for it is in this direction that the chief weakness seems to rest. Of the older rep'resentatives, little fault can be found with the inclusion of Lenihan, Harding and Godsalve, but in at least one direction reputation alone seems to have influenced the selector in his ch'oice.
