The Govarnment meteorolonlst issued the following weather report and forecast fest niffht: — General situation: A deep westerly depression extends from the Tasman Sea to southern New Zeaiand; a tropical disturbance is located near the Fiji Islands and exteVids towards the Cook Isiands. Forecast: Winds northerly to nc-rth-westerly, later backirig to westerly; moderate to strong generally and reaching gale force in many places. Weather: IVIainiy fair to fine, v/arm to hot east of the ranges; elsewhere changeable with showers at times in most places, some heavy falls likely in western districts south of Kawhia. I Following are the barometer,, maxlmum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Sta* tion by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at: 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 29.932ins. Thermometer (max.) 75.4deg. Thermometer (min.) 62.6deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 60,2deg. Rainfall 0.68ins. Bright Sunshine 7.8hrs.
