The "Flying Filly" Silver Scorn proved her wonderful* ability hy setting up new recoi'd figux-es for the six furlongs for Australia and New Zealand axxd incidentally cax-rying the biggest weight to victory ever carried in the Middle Parlc Plate when she beat Inflation by a length in 1 9 2-5. The previous record was held by The Hawk and Chimera jointly, The Hawk running his at Trentham and Chimera at Riccarton. Both were New Zealand- owned and bred horses and their time was 2-5 slower than the new record. Silver Scorn has now started 12 times and has notched 11 wins axxd a seeond, the latter being at Ellerslie when she was beaten by the Waikato horse L Allegro bnt on this oceasion her jockey had injured his foot earlier in the day and was not able to ride her rigiit out or she would probably have won.
