SPEEDBOAT BURNED

EXPLOSION WRECKS NEW MACHINE FOR FIJI Rec. Feh. 19, 6.30 p.m. Sydney, February 19. An explosion oceurred on a new speedboat built here for the Fijian Air Force.. Walter Kuhl, aged 18 years, a mechanic, was hurled into the air and rescued practically unharmed. The boat was burned to the water's edge. Kuhl was beneath the cabin preparing to start the machine. for a test trial, when due to an aecumulation of petrol fumes, there was an explosion, which startled the people on the harbour front. The boat was fitted with valuable engines costing over £1000.
