. ' (Notes by
Though fields are on the small side for the second day of the .Wanganui Racing Club's Autumn -mefiting there is every prospect of some yel'y interesting racing and the events di'sP'lay a good deal of uncertainty in their composition. * * * Seven are left in the F.ordell HurdIes, the list being headed by Tenacre who declined his. engagement on Thursday. If well again he should run prominently though he may find it hai'd to stall off. some of those further down the lrandicaps. Jayson who ran a third on Thursday is.evidently coming back to form though his third was not a good performance. Riotous would probably'have won hut for a faulty juinp and he is not a horse which. usually • niakes mistakes. Calamine also fenced .indifferently while Invictus was withdrawn on Thursday. Gay Lass may not be ready as yet though she comes from the same stable as that one-^time good horse Passin' Thro? and Stan Cleaver rarely perseveres with a bad one. The form- p'oints • to Riotous . Calainirie Tenacre » from.— • FORDELL HURDLES, 1 mile 4| fur. Tenacre, 11.2; Jayson, 10.13;. Riotous, 1Q.5; Calamine, 10.2"; Invictus, 9.6; Gay Lass, Marjoram, 9.0. * : i» ♦ 4. * Nine axve' left in* the Sedgebrook Juvenile with Might a recent double winner at the top. Y7 asteland, Aren-a, and Afise are next and of these Arise has the best creder tials. Welcome Lu has heen close on scveral occasions in Taranaki whilst of the rest of the field Shillong h'as a reputation for speed. The form horses are. — Might Welcomie Lu ' Arise from. — • SEDGEBROOK JUVENILE HANDICAP, 5 furs. — Might, 9.0; Wasteland, 8.10; Arena, 8.10; Arise, 7.10; Welcome Lu, 7.9; B'oon, Shillong, Wharaurangi, Hark Forrard, 7.0. * * * * The Brunswick Handicap is run over an odd distance (71). Arisus and View Halloo head the list with a pound under ten stone each and Arisus is in the open six with less weight. He has hcwever, won over a mile as has View Halloo. Pomp has won also over 8f, and seenls to be coming1 to his [three-year-old form •again .witness his seeond on .Thursday. Bayacre finished' last in this race on 'Thursday and that should let him out since th a- ne>:t three horses below him in this ifa.c-s finished. in front of him. Royal Bengal, Green Linnet and 'Ganpat. These should beat him again as far as form goes. Royal Bengal did not have the best of spins and should do better. Arvada may find the distance toc- much. Providing Arisus hoes not start tlre favourites are likely to be Royal Bengal Pomp View Halloo .. from. — . BRUNSWICK HANDICAP, 71 fur: Arisus, View Halloo, 9.13; Pomp, 9.3; Bayacre, 9.3; Royal Bengal, 8.13-; Green Linnet, 8.12; Ganpat, 8.6; Arvada, 8.2. * * * * The principal race, the Wanganui Handicap, . of the • usual ten furlongs, has a card of eight headed by Thursday 's winner High Falutin' who meets the second horse in a very close finish, . Eminent on 51b wdrse terms. That looks. like being in favour .of Eminent. Brambletorn whq' was badly kicked at New Plymouth, may not. be quite right :again .and First Acre who' is a -real worker having been raced mostly in Australia of late .did not run sufficiently eneouragingly to warrant hi's being confidently supported. He has probably had more racing than any other horse in New Zealand to-day. Richfield's courage is under a cloud and h'e ca.nnot be recommended, though, if in the mood, he is fully capable of extending the best. Shrewd appeals most- of the others on her . third 031 Thursday. The summing up is in favour of Eminent High Falutin' Shrewd

The issue should. lie between Clangor Arikitea from. — OKOIA HACK HANDICAP, of 1 .mile and a distance. — Navaho, 8.12; Clangor, 8.9; Arikitea, 8.1; Davistock 8.0; Beaconsfield, 7.9. * * * The Carnival Handidap is a five furlong scurry and has a really sel-' ect field. Golden Win-gs w'hose early brilliance is well-known heads the field with 9.9, and this, should not stop him. Arisus has 31b less and he is fast out of the s.lips too and is also in good heart. R.oyal Routine is a winner over the journey and Midinette is coming back to what she, was when she wa;; a high class hahjr. Royal Bengal is also swift to start hut is likely to take cn" his other race. Aston ran a thiird on Thursday and Arvada is fairly fast. The best read Golden Wings Arisus !
