SERGEANT DIES AS RESULT OF ATTACK

Rec. Fe.b. 17, 9.50 p.m. Calcutta, Feb. 17. A Calcutta message states that Sergeant Adams, who was mauled-by a tigress on Monday, is dead. It now appears that Adams shot the tigress with his own revolver, and the elephant from which ■ he was thrown, afterwards trampled the tigress to death. Three cubs found in a nearby lair have been presented to the Calcutta zoo.
