A FINE PICTURE
MAID OF THE MOUNTAINS The beautiful, romantic drama, "Maid of the Mountains" drew a crowded audience to the Majestic Theatre last night and the e-nthus-iastic applause which came from every part of the house showed how thoroughly the fine production was en'joyed. Not since the screening of the "Rogue Song," has there been so dashing a drama screened in Rotorua. The scenery was splendid and every phase of the story was packed full of excitement. Scene after scene thrilled the audience, the climax of excitement being reached in Baldasarre's escape with his brigand gang from the castle. The desperate fighting and hairbreath escapes, however, were cleverly balanced by enthralling romance and rollicking humour, while the musical iterns were exceptionally fine. Harry Welchman played a great part as Baldasarre, the brigand chief and touched the highlights of appeal in his love passages with Betty Stockfield. Nancy Brown as Teresa. "Maid of the Mountains" gave a really splendid rendering of her part and the songs awakened loud applause. The principal woraan players were decidedly beautiful as well as being accomplished actresses. In fact, from the opening scene to the closing spotlight song the picture is packed with beauty, thrills and clever acting. No one who has the opportunity should miss "Maid of the Mountains." It is a picture which will live in the memory and win appreeiation from any audience.
