• The Govflrnment meteoi-oTopTst issued the following weather report and forecast last nig-ht: — Gerieral Situation: Though pressure is stili low at the Chatham Islands, the weather is controlled by a depression advancing from the West of the North Island. Forecast: Winds northeasterly to northerly prevailing north of Otago except about Cook Strait where south - easterly prevail; southerly a'nd south- , easterly in the far south and extending over the Dominion during the night and to-morrow, light to moderate and freshening. ' Weather: Mainly fair, but with some scattered showers and thunder, more especially in the North Island; later I'aiYi becoming more general, light and scattered in the^South Island, temperatures cooler To-morrow. Following are the barometer, rnaxlmum and minimum thermcimeter, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded | at the Government Observation Sta> S tion by the Rotorua Tourist Depart- | ment for the 24 hours erided at 9.30 i a.m. yesterday.
