STOCK MARKETS GENERAL INCREASE SHOWN UPON RECENT QUOTATIONS TE AWAMUTU The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on their tri-weekly Te Awamutu Stock Sale as follows — Cattle: A large offering of mostly medium quality fat cows and several pens of fat steers: iand a'l fairly small entry of store cattle, including a few pens of medium quality yearling heifers, met with very keen competition, practically everything changing hands at slightly advanced rates. Best quality fat cattle particularly sold well. Small prime steers made £4 10s to £5 4s; medium do. £3 9s to £4 5s; prime fat cows, £3 17s 6d to £4 7s 6d; medium quality do, 3 5s to £3 15s; lighter £2 10s to £3 2s 6d; light iand unfinished £2 to £2 9s; best istore cows, £1 2s to £1 10s; medium, 15s to £1 ls; inferior up to 14s. Sheep: — There was a fair offering of sheep of all classes which sold readily at reeent Frankton quotations. A large number of store lambs changed hands with scarcely any reservationis being made at prices up to all recent quotations. No young store cows were yarded, but several pens of aged sheep commanded satisfactory competition. Just prime fat wethers made from 12s 6d to 14s lOd; medium do. 11s 3d to 12s; light up to 10s 6d; prime 2tooth ewes, 16s; prime lambs 13s to 14s lOd; medium 11s 6d to 12s 3d; inferior 9s 6d to 11s; medium quality fat ewes 6s 2d to 7s; poorer, 5s 6d to 6s; rape wether lambs made 8s 8d to 9s 3d; good-conditioned m.s. lambs 7s 5d to 8s lOd; medium quality do., 6s 5d to 7s 3d; lighter, 5s 4d to 6s; inferior 4s to 5s; aged ewes up to 6s. Pigs: Although an exceptionally heavy yarding of all classes was handled spirited competition ruled right throughout the sale, and an appreciable improvement on recent Frankton values is reported. Heavy baconers £2 to £2 12s; light baconers and heavy porkers £1 13s to £1 18s; light porkers £1 2s to £1 8s; good quality stores £1 to £1 3s; inferior quality do., 15s to 18s; good quality weaners 11s to 16s.
