NAPIER MAN KILLED WHILE SPLITTING POSTS gompletely dismembered

Napier, Friday. The mutilated body of John Jeffares, aged 58 years, married, was found. late on Thursday night at Greenmeadows, death being the result of an explosion as the body was praetieally dismembered. Deceased was attending the splitting of some posts, but whether he had. detonators in his possession at the time of the fatality is not definitely known. When he left his home he had no explosives with him. Gircumstances, however, show that he came to his end' through the discharge of some explosive. The inquest was opened to-day but was adjourned to enable the police to malce further inquiries.
