Tourists Coming Next week a party of 40 American tourists, engaged on a pleasure eruise on the Cunard liner, Carinthia, will arrive in Rotorua and will spend a day and a-half in the town prior to continuing their journey to Wellington to connect with their ship. Mayor Island Fishing A swordfish weighing 2681b. arid a mako shark which turned the scales at 2841b. were captured by Messrs. A. Tudhope and D. V. Hanna, when fishing at Mayor Island last week. Other fish were also hooked, but these broke away after giving excellent sport for over an hour. Revival Fire Visit A visit is being paid to Whakarewarewa by the leader of the Auckland Revival Fire Mission, Mr. A. Dallimore. The mission has been exclusive to Maoris and numbers of handkerchiefs have been 'blessed" and forwarded to other loealities. Few details are accurately known as the meetings were closed to Europeans and the statements of Maoris who attended vary as to what actually transpired. Racing Clubs Amalgamate The Te Kuiti Racing Club which has been in difficulties for some. time past, and has been tinable to race at a profit, has agreed to the terms of amalgamation proposed by the Waikato Racing Club and will in future race at Te Rapa. Whakarewarewa Guides So far the eventual selection of the 30 official guides at Whakarewarewa has not been announced. There are close upon 50 guides at present licensed by the Tourist Department and these have had their licenses renewed for a month.
