THE WEATHER
The Government meteorolofilst issued the following weather report and forecast last nig-ht: — Genera! situation: An inte'nse anticyclone has commenced to move to the west of the Dominion, but a slight depression is passing to the' north-west. Forecast: Winds south to southeasterly, light to moderate generally, but freshening somewhat along the east coast and i'n the far south. Weather: Still cloudy generally with some further rain, heavy in places in the Auckland province, but elsewhere only scattered; fine, however in Westland and conditions improving rapidly over the rest of the Dominion. Foliowing are the barometer,, maxlmum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Sta> tion by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m." yesterday. Barometer 30.021ins. Thermometer (max.) 73.0deg. Thermometer (min.) 64.0deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 59.8deg. Rainfall ; 0.03ins. Bright Sunshine 1.3hrs.
