HIGH SCHOOLS MEET

CLOSE GAME BETWEEN OLD BOYS' TEAMS EIGHT RIJNS WINS MATCH A close game resulted in Hamilton on Monday when the Rotorua and Hamilton High School Old Boys' crieket teams met on Seddon Park. Rotorua batted first and compiled 223 runs to which Hamilton replied with 231, winning the game by eight runs on the first innings. Heley and Keane opened for Rotorua and although Keane went early, the first-named batsman, and Hampson, gave the team a good start, 62 runs having been scored when the second wicket fell. Heley made 20 runs. Hampson continued to bat attractively and with Ewert also batting well the score was advanced quickly. After making a fine knock of 93 runs, Hampson was caught by Shakeshaft, off the bowling of Smith. Lawrence and Lewis, both 16 runs, brought the second century up and the innings closed shortly afterwards for 223 runs.
