last night' s meeting A LARGE ATTEND ANCE ' AT MAIN BLUE • BATH INTERESTING PROGRAMME , The popularity being attained by swimming in Rotorua was again fully evidenced at the Blue .Bath last evening when a large attendance was present at the third carnival held by the Rotorua Amateur Swimming Club. With each suecessive carnival -the club have continued to add additional amenities for its patrons' convenience and last evening saW a number of new f acilities which greatly added to the efficient control of the meeting. ... , The most * notable • of these latter; innovations was the provision of an efficient ' public announcing - ■ system hy the courtesy of the Davis Public. Announcing system, Rotorua, and by this means the public were kept in constant touch with the results of . the racing. During the early part of the evening until the eommencement 6f the programme a selection of gramophone records was put #over the air. The telegraphing of results from the judges' to the recording officials made a minimtim ef delay possible. , ' ' * Great interest was attra'cted to the . event for possession of the Waikato relay banner recently won by the Rotorua Cluh from the Y.W .C.A.team at Hamilton. In this the newly--formed Ohinemutu Club were the cliallengers and a fine race resulted, the hclders retaining possession by a narrow margin.- " The only starter in the 100yds. club champioiiship was W. Whareaitu, who gained the South' Auckland tltle for the distance at Hamilton last Saturday evening. Whareaitu was accorded an enthiisiastic ovationon appearing for the race which" he swam in the fine time of - 61 seconds. He also won the 100yds. hhndicap' against F. Hall, of Matamata, ' who had q handicap of eight seconds. »?» The outstanding features of the diving events were the finished- performances of Miss M'. Goodwin, Hamilton, and Flannigan, Matamata, 'in the men's event.
