GOVERNMENT PREPARED TO TAKE NECESSARY ACTION

Rec. Jan. 31, 7.15 p.m. Ottawa, Jan. 30. Such action as is necessary and proper will be taken in regard to the importation of butter into Canada the Minister of Trade and Commerce, Mr. H. H. Stevens, informed the House of Commons to-day in reply to a question as to what action would be taken by the Government should there be importation of butter from Australia or elsewhere. Earlier the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Weir, replying to a question, said that the Government had received certain representations against the shipment of butter from New Zealand.
