AUSTRALIAN CUSTOMS UP AGAINST A PROBLEM

Sydney, Jan. 2b. The Customs authorities are sejfc a problem over a fish eargo hrought from New Zealand waters by the trawler, Alfie Gam, a vessel owned in Australia. The vessel called at Manukau to land a man for medical treatment. Having thus touched at New Zealand, the point is whether the fish in her holds, largely New Zealand varieties, which, if brought here by a trading vessel, would be subject to the 10 per cent. primage duty, is liahle. A "Customs officer boarded the- Alfie Cam, an sent a report to Canberra, but the general opinion is that the duty will not he imposed.
