A NOVEL STRIKE FRENCH BROKERS STOP BUSINESS ON BOURSE PROTEST AGAINST TAXES

Paris, Jan. 25. Brokers refused to transact business as a protest against M. Cheron's proposed Budget balancing taxes. The authorities have decided to close the Bourse for a day. A great inerease in unemployment is expected if the strike continues. The strike was carried out with the utmost good humour. When a couple of portly stockbrokers tried to initiate the marlcet, their orders were not registered on the indicator as the strikers had cut the electric wires. Thence forward the hall was a 1 babble with chatter and laughter, a few stink bombs adding to the confusion. The Government threaten to prosecute on the ground that any.demonstration against the freedom of Parliamentary discussion cannot be allowed.
