ROYAL ARTIST BEATS ANTIQUE IN CUP AND PAYS . BIG DIVIDEND SURPRISE IN CLASSIC

Trentham, Thursday. Big dividends were the order in the opening day of the Wellington Racing Club's summer meeting held at Trentham to-day. The attendance was good the racing' interesting and the going fast. Royal Artist 10th favourite won the Wellington Cup from Antique whilst Broken Rule also 10th favourite carried off the Apprentices Plate. Guarantee fifth favourite paid nearly eight times as much for a win as for a place when he won the Wellington Stakes. The ."win and 'place"i tota'jfisator was in operation and proved most successful when the public had once got used to its operation.
