SYDNEY STUDENTS

(Special to "Post.")

now touring south island will visit rotorua

Dunedin, Thursday. A tribute to the remarlcable diversity of New Zealand's scenery was paid yesterday by Professor MacDonald Holmes, professor of geography at Sydney University, who is leading a party of nine students, comprising men and women, through the Dominion. The visitors, who left for the North Island this morning, have been visiting Christchurch, Timaru, Mount Cook, Queenstown and the Milford Track. Their future programme will inelude visits to the Tongariro National P'ark, Rotorua and the Waitomo Caves. A study of the fiord country was of the greatest interest to the visitors, who have also been investigating giacial formations. Of special interest to the party were the movements of the Tasman Glacier, which is thought to be expanding to the side and growing shallower. In the North Island the professor and his students will carry out research work into volcanic formations.
