The Govarnment meteorolordst Issued the foiiowing weather report and forecast Iast niffht: — General situation: A shallow depression is crossing the Dominion, but no decided pressure change is i'ndicated; the anti-cyclone over the western Tasman Sea has decreased in , j extent and intensity. A tropical cyclone appears to be developing in the vicinity of the Fiji Islands. Forecast: Winds light to moderate I and variable, but northerly ruling at first. : Weather: Mainly fair to cloudy, but some scattered rain and possibily ; some thunder in_places. Foiiowing are the barometerr maximum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Sta* tion by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 29.901 ins. Thermometer (max.) 76.3deg. Thermometer (min.) 59.8deg. Thermometer (mi'n. on grass) 57.9deg. Rainfall Trace Bright Sunshine 10- hrs.
